Hammersmith Community Garden’s Association
Whilst Westminster City Council is responsible for maintaining Queen’s Park Gardens and its facilities, QPCC has contracted local environmental charity Hammersmith Community Gardens Association (HCGA) to help enhance the Park.
The Community Gardening sessions are coordinated by a highly trained gardener and a dedicated group of local volunteers. Since 2016, the gardening group has revitalised the previously overgrown and diseased ridden area now known as the Rose Garden.
HCGA’s gardening sessions take place every Thursday from 10 am – 12 pm. Sessions are open for all residents to join. There are also children’s gardening sessions on Thursdays from 14:00 – 16:00 during school holidays and special gardening days with corporate volunteers.
Friends of Queen’s Park Gardens
The Friends of Queen’s Park Gardens (FQPG) was formed in 2005/2006 and was reformed in 2012 with support from QPCC in response to complaints by residents about the lack of maintenance of the Park’s Wildlife Area. The group initially came together to maintain the Wildlife Area, now their activities have
extended to several areas of the Park, including:
- The triangular Rose bed near the Fourth Avenue entrance (outside the rose garden)
- The circular flowerbed near the Third Avenue entrance
- The railings bed along the children’s play area
- The planting beds along the benches on the main walking path
The group meets on Saturday from 10 am to 13:00 and Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm. Residents are always welcome to join these sessions.
