Black History Month 2025 Film Series: On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (2024)

October 24 @ 6:20 pm - 8:30 pm

Celebrate Black History Month with a powerful film series that explores themes of power, pride and standing firm. We start with Girl, exploring a claustrophobic tale of mother & daughter in Glasgow; then Borders, which sees four women from different parts of Africa bond while taking a long bus journey; and On Becoming a Guinea Fowl, a dark comedy that follows a middle-class Zimbabwean family as they come together at a funeral. Finally, we’re going to close out our Black History Month film series with a Halloween Special African Horror Film – details for this will be announced soon!

On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (2024)

On an empty road in the middle of the night, Shula stumbles across the body of her uncle. As funeral proceedings begin around them, she and her cousins bring to light the buried secrets of their middle-class Zambian family.

Book via the form below.
