NOTICE OF VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF PARISH COUNCILLOR

Rule 5 The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Councillor Alfrena Barbé has resigned from her position as a Community Councillor for the Ward of Queen’s Park Community Council and that a casual vacancy now exists in the office of Community Councillor for that ward.
If a request for an election to fill the said vacancy signed by ten registered electors of the said Parish is received on or before Wednesday 10 February by the Acting Proper Officer of Queen’s Park Community Council then a by-election will be held to fill the said vacancy.
Where ten valid requests for an election are received on or before Wednesday 10 February by the Acting Proper Officer of Queen’s Park Community Council, then under the provisions of the Coronavirus Act 2020 and The Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus)(Postponement of Elections and Referendums)(England and Wales) Regulations 2020 (“the 2020 Regulations”) the by-election will not currently take place and the vacancy will be held open until the by-election takes place. The 2020 Regulations provide for the by-election to take place on a date from or after Thursday 6 May 2021. However, this date may be brought forward or deferred by the Government depending upon the circumstances. Any by-election that is in due course called will be duly publicised as required by law.

If no such notice is received by the Acting Proper Officer, the vacancy will be filled by the Parish Council by co-option.
