Queen’s Park Community Council is facilitating our community’s first ever Cook Off and Food Festival giving young people aged 11- 18 the opportunity to put their cooking skills to the test, share foods from their cultural backgrounds with the Community and gain business skills! Lets not forget participants will be in with a change to win one of three prizes up to £150!
Participants must be available on August 3rd, 7th and 13th to engage in all aspects of the programme. A warm lunch will be provided on each of the three days.
August 3rd: Business 101 Workshop
10am – 3pm, Rebel Business School , 470 Harrow Road, Westminster, London, W9 3RU
We are working in collaboration with the Rebel Business School to facilitate this one day Business 101 workshops giving participants an understanding of the fundamentals of starting and running a business including:
Participants will then have access to a range of digital resources they can use to develop their business knowledge and start to think about how they will present their business at the Food Festival.
August 7th: Food Hygiene and Food Festival Planning
10am – 4pm, Beethoven Center, Third Avenue, W10 4JL
During this one day workshops participants will complete their Food Safety training and put their business 101 knowledge to work developing their plans for the food festival including:
At the end of this session, participants will provide QPCC with a shopping list of items needed for their projects and stall – this will all be purchased and read for participants on the day of the festival ( or before hand if necessary)
August 13th: Festival Day
10am – 5pm, Beethoven Centre, Third Avenue, W10 4JL
On the day of the Food Festival, participants will have access to the Kitchen and Hall at the Beethoven Centre to prepare their food in a registered kitchen and to set up their stalls.
The Food Festival will begin at 3:30pm with more than 50 residents invited to attend the festival to purchase (using special Queen’s Park money) and try the foods at each stall, paying participants according to their assessment of the quality, quantity and presentation of food and stall.
The three participants who raise the most money from sales (minus costs) win £75 -£150 in prizes!!
