Mission Statement

At The Women and Girls’ Project, our mission is to empower vulnerable women and girls in Queen’s Park, Westminster, by providing support, education, and opportunities to overcome challenges such as domestic violence, abuse, exploitation, and barriers to employment. We strive to create an environment where women can participate equally in society and the economy and where their voices are heard.

What We Offer

  • Educational Workshops and Programs: We organise events and workshops that provide women and girls with essential skills, education, and opportunities to improve their lives. Our programs focus on addressing health inequalities and creating social awareness.
    • Example Activities:
      • Nutrition workshops.
      • Workshops promote active lifestyles through different activities, sports, and hobbies.
  • Support Services: We educate women on recognizing domestic violence and exploitation, help them identify risks, and provide referrals to the right services. We also offer face-to-face translators and interpreters to ensure language is not a barrier to receiving help.
    • Example Programs:
      • Workshops and support services related to immigration, debt and financial advice, and financial literacy.
      • A pathway to driving license program with theory and practical test support.
  • Employment Assistance: Our employment support includes CV workshops, interview practice and tips, as well as guest speakers from various industries within the local community. We aim to break down barriers to employment by connecting women with resources and networks.
    • Example Activities:
      • Providing pathways to internships, work experience, and volunteering opportunities.
      • Enabling access to further education courses in the local area.
  • Community Building Activities: We host fun activities designed to build confidence in young women and girls, tackling issues such as mental health, cyberbullying, and social isolation.
    • Example Programs:
      • Sewing and cooking classes.
      • Fundraising and community celebration events, including cultural celebration days that celebrate multiculturalism in the local community.
      • Events related to womanhood such as Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day.
  • Motherhood Support: For young mothers, we offer workshops and support groups that focus on motherhood, balancing childcare, and transitioning back into employment or further education. We provide connections and information to help them upskill and achieve their goals.
    • Example Programs:
      • Breastfeeding classes.
      • Baby health and safety classes focusing on conditions like meningitis, sepsis, and jaundice.
      • Addressing neonatal mental health challenges like postpartum depression.
      • Baby vaccination programs.
