CCTV in Queen’s Park – Have Your Say

CCTV in Queen’s Park – Have Your Say

Westminster City Council (WCC) has allocated a total of 100 CCTV cameras across the borough, with Queen’s Park receiving six of them – more than any other ward. These cameras have been installed to improve public safety and prevent crime.

The decision to install these cameras and this consultation is part of a wider effort to tackle anti-social behaviour (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/news/cctv-network-helps-root-out-anti-social-behaviour-0). We want to ensure that community safety remains a priority and that residents have a say in implementing security measures.

The cameras in Queen’s Park are located at:

  • Lancefield Street/Mozart Street (Northeast corner) – Covering Lancefield Street, Mozart Street, and the rear of Canon House.
  • Portnall Road (west footway) at the junction with Harrow Road – Overlooking Portnall Road and east/west along Harrow Road.
  • Ilbert Street (west of the junction with Oliphant Street).
  • Harrow Road (opposite junction with Second Avenue).
  • Ashmore Road (Shirland Road).
  • Dart Street (Bravington Road).

We want to hear from you! Are you happy with the placement of these cameras? Do you feel they help improve safety in the area? Would you like to see additional cameras, and if so, where?

Share your thoughts by completing our quick poll: https://forms.gle/qkU2qTMqWtji8mpu9.

Additionally, we invite all residents to join the upcoming Community Conversation on tackling serious violence on Saturday, March 1st, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at Stowe Centre, 258 Harrow Road.

This event is part of an ongoing series of Community Conversations with Queen’s Park Community Council and Westminster City Council. It is an opportunity to raise concerns, receive updates, and contribute to the work of the newly formed Serious Violence Task-force, which aims to improve safety in Queen’s Park and surrounding wards.

Your feedback and participation are vital in shaping a safer community for everyone.

  1. Am not happy about the Dart Street cameras location. We were not notified. It observes our front door and garden. We are concerned about privacy issues. Please move the camera to a less invasive position… there are other lamp posts.
    Thank you
