Casual vacancy for a councillor

Queen’s Park Community Council wishes to fill a vacancy that has arisen for a councillor from September 2017 until May 2018.

This represents an exceptional opportunity to represent your local community and help bring about change. You will need to be prepared to give up a little of your time each week and will be expected to attend council meetings. These take place in the evenings and are usually held monthly. You will also have the chance to represent the interests of local people and influence decisions through the council’s various working groups.

Councillors have to be 18 years or older. The role is unpaid, although certain allowances are payable.

Prospective candidates are asked to send a one-page written application by Wednesday 6 September, in two parts:

  • •                About themselves and their connection to the area
  • •                What they feel they could contribute to the governance of Queen’s Park.

Applicants will then be invited to a pre-meeting of Council on 20 September 2017 at 18:00, to give a short presentation and answer questions. The successful candidate then to attend Council meeting at 18:30.
