Queen’s Park Summer Festival

1 August 2015 - 9:00am

Saturday 1st August saw the return of  Queen’s Park Summer Festival, now in its 12th year and the second year for the new Queen’s Park Community Council.  This year saw an extended showcase of non-stop diverse local talent performing across two stages including the ever popular ‘Acoustic zone’.  This popular annual event has grown year on year and has a dedicated local following.
The event is co-ordinated by the Queen’s Park Community Council and brings together a range of partners and resident volunteers to deliver a fantastic free event and community celebration.
This year also saw the return of much loved activities across the park from sports and games with Westminster Sports Unit and Queen’s Park Rangers on the multi use sports pitch to entertainment for younger children in the play area, a relaxing area with information and activities on healthy living, global food, bouncy castle, assault course, climbing wall, bucking bronco and local stalls and entertainment spread across the park.
For older residents, Queen’s Park Council, Open Age and City West Homes all worked very hard to put on another fantastic afternoon tea, dance and live entertainment party from 1-5pm at St Jude’s Hall, next to the park. Residents also got the opportunity to engage with local service providers such as Westminster Clinical Commissioning Group, Working with Men, The Community and Maternity Champions Projects, The Avenue’s Youth Group as well as enjoying the Queen’s Park Community Councils fancy dress photo booth machine.
