Freelance designer wanted
Queen’s Park Community Council seeks a freelance designer to create a new template for the Queen’s Park Voice newsletter – produced several times a year and delivered by hand to every household in the neighbourhood (around 5,000 homes).
The newsletter is created by community councillors and resident volunteers, with support from a community officer. Contributors are unpaid. The role of the newsletter is to inform local people what is going on locally and what the community council is doing.
Past issues will be the basis of the new design, with the A5 size, pagination and masthead remaining the same. The council is looking for a sharper, smarter look – not a completely new one.
Issues are either 12 or 16 pages so the template – using InDesign - needs to include a few possible variations (eg an extra news page, or single-page and double-page options for the listings).
Content includes news of local events, photography, interviews, listings and columns.
We anticipate that the template’s creation should take 1.5 to 2 days, including some feedback/ discussion of work in progress. We can offer £150 per day.
If you are interested in this work and available between now and mid-April (when our next issue goes to the printers), please email firstname.lastname@example.org, putting “QPV design” in the subject line. Please include an attachment or link to an example of your design work, a paragraph with details of your work experience, and a phone number. The deadline for expressions of interest is March 28.
Once the dummy/ template has been created (this will become our Spring issue), there may be further work laying out subsequent issues.
Many thanks for your interest!
